Space planning is the heart of the project. When you can analysis the needs of client both current and future you can devise a layout that can meet and exceed their expectations. In this project, some of the immediate needs were identified as an entry point accessible from the garage with a large space for essentials. These included coats, dog gear, recycling and bathroom off this area. The master bedroom is currently on the second floor and the children are located on the main. For a family that likes to entertain this situation alone is restricting how the home functions.
The solution relocated the master bedroom and en suite to the main floor and the children now occupy a Jack and Jill bath configuration on the second with a play space off the main upper area. The kitchen dining and living room areas are now more defined with accessible storage off of each area.
It is great to spend quality time in this stage. You want to ensure you have thought of everything and analyzed your needs. As life changes so do our needs; make sure you are keeping these things in mind as you share your thoughts and dream for your new space with your designer.
