Tomato Gnocchi

1 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 onion finely chopped
4 minced garlic cloves
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
4 cups vegetable broth
2 cups water
4 dashes Italian seasoning
1 pound uncooked gnocchi
1 cup whipping cream
Fresh basil/salt and pepper

Prepare gnocchi dough.
Melt oil and butter in a large pot on medium high. Saute onion until lightly browned. Stir in garlic, crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, water, Italian seasoning and gnocchi. Increase heat and bring to gentle boil.

Cover with lid slightly ajar and reduce to medium low heat. Simmer for ten minutes. Add cream, salt and pepper and cook an additional 10-15 min. with lid off to thicken.Add fresh basil before serving.
