When you’re planning a new healthcare space, one of the first questions that comes up is: How much time will this actually take? While the timeline varies based on your project’s complexity, we’ve broken it down so you know what to expect.
📺 Watch the video below for a quick overview of the clinic timeline—from lease to launch.
🗓️ Your Clinic Timeline, Step by Step:
✅ Location Secured? Great Start!
This timeline assumes you’ve already signed your lease. Finding the perfect location can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months on its own.
✅ Design & Engineering (Approx. 8 Weeks)
Once your space is locked in, we begin design and engineering. This includes planning optimal layouts, technical drawings, and functional workflows—tailored to your vision and regulatory requirements.
✅ Permitting Process (Approx. 8 Weeks)
Next comes permitting. Depending on your municipality, this stage can vary, but we typically allot two months to move through local approvals.
✅ Construction & Build-Out (3.5 to 4 Months)
Once we have permits in hand, the transformation begins! Standard clinic build-outs take around 3.5 to 4 months. More complex projects may take longer, especially those involving specialty equipment or custom millwork.
🧮 Total Time From Lease to Opening? About 8 Months
On average, you’re looking at an 8-month timeline to go from signed lease to opening your doors—assuming a standard project scope.
🔁 Planning a Clinic Refresh Instead?
Smaller updates—like paint or lighting—can sometimes be completed over a weekend with no disruption. Larger renovations, though, will extend the timeline based on the scope of work.
At Decca Design, we help you plan ahead—so your project runs smoothly, on time, and with as little stress as possible.
