Breaded Tilapia Fish

Ingredients:

    • 4 tilapia fillets
    • 1 cup breadcrumbs (you can use seasoned breadcrumbs for extra flavor)
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
    • Cooking oil (such as vegetable oil) for frying
    • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix these dry ingredients together.
  2. In another shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour.
  3. In a third shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk to create an egg wash.
  4. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  5. Dredge each tilapia fillet in the flour, coating both sides. Shake off any excess flour.
  6. Dip the floured fillets into the egg wash, ensuring they are well-coated.
  7. Transfer the fillets to the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto both sides of the fish to adhere.
  8. Heat cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. You’ll want enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
  9. Once the oil is hot (about 350°F or 175°C), carefully add the breaded tilapia fillets to the skillet. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side or until the fish is golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the fish should reach 145°F (63°C).
  10. Remove the cooked fillets from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  11. Serve the breaded tilapia fish with lemon wedges if desired and enjoy!
