In this Alberta renovation, the en suite is coming together beautifully with the installation of the wall and shower tiles. Following the countertop installation, the tiles now span the entire wall, creating a striking textured backdrop for the space.
A Thoughtful Tile Layout
Two individual mirrors will be mounted above the vanity, each framed by a wall sconce on either side. To enhance the sense of space, the grain of the wall tile runs horizontally, making the room feel wider. Inside the walk-in shower, the tile grain will shift to a vertical direction, drawing the eye upward and emphasizing the height.
The Power of Tiled Features
Tiling an entire wall transforms it into a true feature, adding colour, texture, and long-lasting durability. The design possibilities are nearly endless, from unique shapes and patterns to a wide range of finishes. Thoughtful tile selection can completely change the feel of a bathroom, whether you are aiming for serene spa-like elegance or bold modern character.
Practical Benefits of Full-Wall Tile
Beyond aesthetics, full-wall tile offers practical advantages for Alberta homeowners:
- Moisture Protection – Properly installed tile resists water damage, an essential feature in a bathroom.
- Easy Cleaning – Smooth, durable surfaces make wiping down walls quick and simple.
- Long-Term Value – Quality tile installation stands up to daily use, reducing the need for repairs or repainting.
Top 3 Tile Design Trends in Alberta Bathrooms
If you are planning a bathroom renovation, here are three trends we are seeing across Alberta:
- Large-Format Tiles – Fewer grout lines mean a cleaner look and easier maintenance.
- Matte Finishes – Soft, low-sheen surfaces create a modern, understated elegance.
- Mixed Directions – Using horizontal and vertical tile layouts in one space adds subtle visual interest and defines different zones.
