An ode to family heritage and new beginnings
Interior Design Challenge For a Calgary Commercial Services Provider
The Challenge:
Nestled in the cozy town of Okotoks, a local dentist was in the process of opening his first practice. With an excellent location, the space was light and spacious with large windows. It was important to find a way to pay homage to the dentist’s heritage that the brand was created after. The history behind the name of the dental clinic was to be a focal point in the office. Most importantly, the customer experience was a crucial factor in how the space was to be designed. Patient comfort was a top propriety when considering features that could be incorporated into the creation of the clinic.

The Solution:
Upon entering the office, you are greeted with a well-lit waiting room designed to utilize the natural light offered by the space. Featured above the reception desk is the clinic’s brand, paying tribute to the heritage it represents. A coffee counter and wall mounted television are welcome additions to ease the patient. To improve efficiency, the reception layout offers the duality for the office manager to welcome customers while being close by to assist the doctor. The clinic features a small lab and six closed dental treatment rooms; including one stand up surgical suite. To create a functional space for the employees, each room was designed to operate with two touchdown areas. Since the dentist enjoys biking to work, a behind-the-scenes staff washroom and shower is incorporated into the layout. A thoughtful final touch to enhance a patient’s experience is the installation of a towel warmer. At the end of each visit, patients will receive warm towels to complete the comforting and inviting experience the clinic offers.
