The Dreams of a Farm Kitchen Realized
Farmhouse Restoration Achieved with a Custom Kitchen Renovation
The Challenge:
Originally from eastern Canada this couple struggled with bringing their antiques, history and love of the farm into their urban home. There were existing features that had to be incorporated in to the new design. Oak – it was throughout the home and all the trim, doors and furniture. Sentimental backsplash tiles with a cherry motif were top of the salvage list and the recently purchased white appliances. Upon first entry into the existing kitchen the passion for cherry red was obvious. The challenge was how to incorporate a traditional farm style with white appliances, oak trim and cherry tiles?

The Design Solution:
You are transported back to the farm as you enter into this newly renovated kitchen. The details are sprinkled throughout. The farm influence is seen in the apron sink, the bead board wainscoting, rear cupboard accent panels and the oil rubbed bronze kitchen faucet. A dining room chandelier pays homage to the school house days and the salvaged cherry tile appears in three distinctive locations; the hood fan, desk area and wainscoting cap.
The cupboards have been color matched to the white appliances to blend seamlessly and the boarded white ceiling is complete with an oak cornice. A The pallette is fresh with a bold splash of cherry red. Red quartz countertops are the talk of the neighborhood. The decision to select this daring, bold color was not without many sleepless nights however the result is stunning. The prefect cherry on top of the realization of a dream farm kitchen.
“Thank you for all your contributions from design to project management to finishing our new kitchen for us. It is unique and suits us so well. After all the agonizing over the red counter tops, it really does look fantastic!”
